Carl's Ready!

With all the swine flu outbreaks I wanted to be prepared "in case" we needed to take drastic measures. (I really don't think it will come to this, but you know....) So yesterday I bought a box of those blue medical masks. (I have 50 - so if anyone needs some when the world runs out - you can buy them from me for...say....$10.00 each - CASH ONLY!)

I called and asked Carl if he wanted me to send him any. He said "No". He said he had his own mask. So this morning he showed me he was ready:This is the gas mask he is required to have in his helicopter every time he flies gas line. So the Hacking family is prepared - and we shall not fear.

Crock Pot Cooking

Tonight for a RS Enrichment class we are having a Crock Pot cooking class. I wrote an article for LDS Living Magazine a few years back on Crock Pot cooking. I thought if anyone is interested in reading that article and learning more about Crock Pot cooking, you can read the article here: Crock Pot Cooking

My First Book Signing Gig

So I had my first official "book signing" for Girls Camp Made Easy. It was Saturday, April 4, 2009 at a local LDS bookstore in Twin Falls, Idaho called Crowley's Quad in the Magic Valley Mall. Here is what my little station looked like - they put me right at the entrance of the store. I would have preferred a little corner in the back of the store, but I had to go where they told me. There were two highlights of the evening - I met a group of YW who were at the mall doing a little scavenger hunt or something. They were so cute and each one of them wanted a little white and gold VIRTUE bracelet that I was handing out. I got to chat a little with each of them. That was fun. The second highlight was meeting the other LDS author who was there also signing her books - Julie Wright - she is an amazing author. Jasmine loves her books - I was able to get one autographed for her. I had to have my picture taken with her to prove it. I am looking forward to doing another one, maybe in a more populous area sometime. I also learned that I didn't need to wear a dress. Next time I am going in jeans! It was a fun evening.

Grandma A is healing

As you know, Grandma A. fell a few weeks ago and really banged up her face. Well, since she is so healthy, she has healed quite remarkably. Here is a picture of her face taken a few days ago. As you can see, her black lip and eyes have gone away. She is so happy with how she looks now.

Headed to TX this weekend

I am off to Texas to visit Carl. Just me - no kids. I am so excited. I hear we will be going to the Dr. Pepper museum in Waco TX. Can't wait for that! I hope to drink lots of Dr P.

We enjoyed Conference weekend...well at least I did. My kids would have nothing of it. It's too "boring". We were excited though to hear of the Area Authority Seventy who is in our ward here in Twin get released, and then called to be a Seventy. Pretty amazing to rub shoulders with this great man and his sweet wife every week. Brother Nielson is great and he will do a wonderful job as one of the Lord's apostles. (In case you are wondering - no, being an area seventy is *not* the same as being an apostle.)

We've kept busy the past few days working on Andrew's online English class. Since the kiddos will be in Utah the last half of this week when I am in TX, he has to get this week's unit all done by Wednesday night. We've been working late hours to get it done. I think we will reach our goal so he can enjoy his time in Utah instead of having to play catch up on his work.

Grandma A is doing very well since her fall. The bruising has mostly cleared up and her face is almost back to normal. I will post a picture as soon as I take one.
